December 1 Is World AIDS Day

November 30, 2010 |

North Carolina ranks 13th in the nation in terms of people living with HIV/AIDS. This according to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. AIDS Care Service helps about 400 clients at any given time secure housing and medical support. But they say people who struggle with poverty and live high-risk lifestyles are more likely to contract this disease because they have less access to preventative information and quality health treatments. About 2,598 people in Forsyth County and 1,710 people in Guilford County are HIV/AIDS survivors.
