Dead body found on school bus

September 26, 2011 | Keri Brown

The bus driver found the body of a man in a parked bus at High Point Central High School. According to the High Point Police Department, the man entered an unlocked bus in the school's parking lot sometime Sunday evening.

"She entered the bus and does exactly what she does every morning, her pre-route check to make sure that everything is in check and the bus is clean and empty and discovers that a man is laying face down in the back. We figure that he entered the bus overnight to take shelter from the storms to get out of the weather that's where he passed away," said Marty Sumber, High Point Deputy Police Chief.

Sumner said he believes the man died of natural causes and doesn't suspect any any foul play is involved.

He said the 56-year-old man, Thomas Milton Lewis, was homeless. Lewis' last address was listed as Open Door Shelter on Centennial Street.
