The Business ReportCaterpillar Inc. Sets Long-Term Sights on the TriadNovember 18, 2011 | David FordCaterpillar is betting big on its Global Mining division. This summer it purchased Ohio-based mining equipment manufacturer Bucyrus International for a whopping $8.8 billion, and on Wednesday, crowds of dignitaries and officials turned out for the grand opening of Caterpillar’s sparkling new mining equipment component plant in Winston-Salem.
