Aftermath in Chile felt in The Triad

March 13, 2010 | LeShea Agnew

As Chile continues its relief efforts following a major earthquake, one Winston-Salem professor is watching closely. On February 27th, Chile was rocked by an 8.8 magnitude quake on it's west coast. Hundreds are reported dead. Peter Siavelis is an Assistant Professor of Political Science and Director of the Latin American studies program at Wake Forest University. Siavelis lived in Chile during the early 1990's while doing research on the country's legislative and political system for his dissertation. Today, he has several friends and colleagues in the country and relies on the Internet to keep in constant contact with them. He recently spoke with WFDD's LeShea Agnew.
