A Neighbor's Home: a Place of Refuge

March 31, 2011 | LeShea Agnew

Wednesday evening, Sochan Rumthao and his three children  (two sons and one daughter) were at home preparing for dinner when a Hawker Beechcraft airplane crashed into the back of their home and caught fire. The small plane was en route from Wilmington to Winston-Salem but due to rain, fog and limited visibility attempted to make an emergency landing at Piedmont Triad International Airport in Greensboro. The passenger on the plane, Dr. Thomas Littlejohn of Winston-Salem, was killed along with the pilot who has yet to be identified.
Sochan's wife and the children's mother was out of town in Georgia at the time of the crash and is reportedly on her way back to High Point. Rumbaugh says the 3 children returned to school today to try to regain a sense of normalcy and their father has begun filing insurance claims.

The accident occurred in the Frazier Downs subdivision off Sandy Ridge Road.
