Friday, November 19 marks the half way point in the 6 Days in November festivities going on in the Triad. This year’s celebration of arts, crafts and innovation in Winston-Salem offers more than 165 cultural events during the week leading up to Thanksgiving.
On Saturday from 11 to 7 during 6 Days’ 2nd annual Arts Market, a group of local artists and craftsmen will embody that giving spirit a few days early. They’re donating the proceeds from the sale of their fine arts and crafts to Arts for Life in Winston-Salem.
Arts for Life (AFL) is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting people facing serious illnesses and disabilities. By providing educational art programs, they enrich patients’ lives, and nurture their minds and spirits.
They also encourage positive healthcare experiences for children and their families.
AFL’s staff members and volunteers teach the arts to patients over 300 hours each week at four locations: Brenner Children’s Hospital in Winston-Salem, Mission Hospital in Asheville, Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, and Duke Children’s Hospital and Health Center in Durham. Last year AFL reached nearly 5,000 patients through their pediatric clinic art programs, patient and family art support groups, and inpatient art programs.
The second annual Arts Market with all proceeds benefitting Arts For Life is part of 6 Days in November. It begins at 11 tomorrow (Saturday) morning in the lobby of the Chatham Building, 305 W. 4th Street in downtown Winston-Salem.
