200 Cats Rescued from Iredell Woman's Home
July 30, 2012 |
An Iredell woman is accused of animal cruelty after more than 200 cats are removed from her home. The Iredell County sheriff department is charging 47-year-old Angie Funderburk with felony cruelty to animals, and the misdemeanor charges of not vaccinating her animals and of initiating cruelty to animals. Funderburk lives at 116 Creek Branch Drive in Morrisville. Iredell Animal Services Director Chris Royal says she and her officers rescued the cats along with three dogs that were kept outside Friday afternoon. According to Royal 150 cats are still living, healthy and are available for adoption. The dogs are also adoptable. Royal also says her facility can't manage all of these animals. Tuesday, Iredell Humane Society and animal shelter agencies in Cabarras and Orange Counties and in Charlotte are taking some of the cats.
