Winston-Salem Symphony

Join the Winston-Salem Symphony for a rare January concert featuring Finlandia by Sibelius and Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade with concertmaster Corine Brouwer playing the hauntingly beautiful violin solo. Special guest soloist Charles Dimmick, concertmaster of the Portland Symphony Orchestra, who will join the orchestra for the Berg Violin Concerto.

Conductor Bob Moody joins TAUC host David Ford to talk about the concert.

1/5/2011 | Due to the illness of concertmaster Corine Brouwer, the Winston-Salem Symphony announced today that WSS associate concertmaster Daniel Skidmore will be the concertmaster for both performances.  In addition, Mr. Skidmore will play with guest violinist Charles Dimmick and WSS principal second violinist Fabrice Dharamraj in performances of Chris Brubeck’s Interplay for Three Violins. (WSS assistant concertmaster Andrew Emmett steps into the concertmaster role for this one work.)  Mr. Dimmick will perform the solo violin parts in Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade.
