UNCSA presents Spring Dance 2012

Spring Dance

Spring Dance will include performances of Act II of Swan Lake with Chancellor John Mauceri conducting the UNCSA Symphony Orchestra; Beach Birds by Merce Cunningham; The Unsung by José Limón, and Kingdom by Larry Keigwin.

April 19-21 at 7:30 p.m.

April 22 at 2 p.m.

Stevens Center

$15 adults / $13 students and seniors

Coming up April 19-22 at the Stevens Center the University of NC School of the Arts presents Spring Dance 2012. On the program will be a unique collection of ballet classics like Act II of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake with John Mauceri conducting the UNCSA Symphony Orchestra, modern masterpieces like Jose Limon’s powerful work The Unsung, and Merce Cunningham’s enigmatic Beach Birds, and a new work choreographed by Larry Keigwin will be performed titled Kingdom. UNCSA high schoolers and college students at the dance school will perform after weeks of extensive training from David's guests.

For years, dance educator Sean Sullivan performed as a soloist with the famed Jose Limon Dance Company and he taught at the Limon Institute as well. Franchon Cordell performed soloist roles as a member of the renowned American Ballet Theatre and she’s worked with many of the finest choreographers in history.
