University of NC Greensboro school of music theatre and dance Associate professor Duane Cyrus is a gifted dancer/choreographer, eloquent champion of the arts, and a very, very busy man. His Cyrus Art Production and Vital Grace Project just wrapped up performances last week at UNCG Dance Theatre, and he’s continually bringing high quality, diverse and exciting performances to North Carolina audiences. Coming up on Wednesday night October 5, at 7:30 at the Carolina Theatre. It's Stars of AmericanDance and it’s part of Greensboro’s 17 Days Festival celebration brought to you by the United Arts Council of Greater Greensboro.
Sphinx Virtuosi is a chamber orchestra of all Black and Latino string players based in Detroit, Michigan. The Sphinx Organization’s founder, Aaron Dworkin started the program back in the 90s to increase the participation of Blacks and Latinos in classical music performance and to promote the creation, performance and preservation of works by Black and Latino composers. Sphinx has been inspiring audiences across the country for 15 years, and after their Greensboro concert they’re off to Carnegie Hall. Two individuals who continue to find inspiration in the ensemble are Peeler Open School for the Performing Arts Classical Music Across Cultures Coordinator and violin instructor Marta Richardson and former Sphinx Ensemble bassist Keith Miller.
