Triad Arts with David Ford

Triad Arts Weekend!

June 10, 2011

Venture deep into the heart of the Blue Ridge mountains and share in the creative passions of the local artisans who live there at the first annual Floyd Artisan Trail Tour. It’s all less than two hours from home. Floyd is in Southwestern Virginia, about an hour and a half north of Greensboro, just above Martinsville. Hop on Highway 77, take exit 221 and your practically there. Floyd, Virginia is located between HWY 77 and the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway.

For more information on this region, try this recent New York Times article.

Photographer O. Winston Link left us with a treaure trove of hauntingly beautiful black-and-white photographs from the 1950s that depict the end of the era of steam railroading in the United States and the rural landscapes of Virginia and North Carolina. His work is on display at Reynolda House through June 19, 2011. Retired O. Winston Link Museum curator, and longtime assistant Tom Garver shares Link’s legacy with TAUC host David Ford.

Helen Losse’s new book is Seriously Dangerous (Main Street Rag, 2011). Her book launch party with readings, book signings and refreshments, takes place Saturday, June 11 from 2-5pm at Barnhills in Winston-Salem (336) 602-1384.
