At 8:33 a.m. & 5:44 p.m.:

The great singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Martha Bassett is just as in demand and a performer as ever this summer. Friday, June 22, beginning at 5:30pm Martha will be at Primland in Meadows of Dan, Virginia, 2000 Busted Rock Rd., and then on Thursday, June 28, beginning at 12:15 she’ll be performing in Davis Chapel in Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem.

At 1 p.m.: It’s a full hour of arts!

PIHOS: A Moving Biography explores the fascinating life of 1940s era Philadelphia Eagle All Pro & NFL Hall of Famer Pete Pihos and his struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. The story is told through video and dance by his daughter Melissa Pihos. The UNCG Choreography MFA recipient has been dancing for 25 years and is currently performing with The Jan Van Dyke Dance Group and Sidelong Dance Company. For A Moving Biography, Pihos has collaborated with UNCG Media Studies MFA recipient Cagney Gentry.

PIHOS: A Moving Biography is coming to Hanesbrands Theatre in Winston-Salem, on Saturday, June 23 at 8:00pm. Melissa and Cagney stopped by WFDD to chat with TAUC host David Ford.

Writers’ Group of the Triad provides resources for writers alerting them to literary workshops, contests, readings and links to other organizations. Their recently published anthology is titled Fire and Chocolate.

Writers’ Group also provides 12 different critique groups organized by genre including Poetry, Fiction, Novel, Mystery, Speculative Fiction, Memoir, and Children's Literature.

Back by popular demand, the Summer Solstice Celebration will be held at the beautiful Greensboro Arboretum on Saturday, June 23, 2012. The spectacular annual event brings 5,000 Triad citizens together on the longest day of the year, it’s entirely family friendly, and best of all it’s FREE! There will be musical performances hooping, face painting, with drums and dancing showcased throughout the day beginning at 2:PM. It’s a Mid -Summer night’s dream you won’t soon forget—not if Kara Chambers and Jacob Felder have any say in the matter: they are balancing artists, stilt walkers, mimes, fire dancers and breathers. Together they are Exuro Entertainment and their exciting Summer Solstice Fire Finale will begin at 9:00pm

In this week’s Kairoff at the Keyboard, Wake Forest University Professor Peter Kairoff demonstrates why Beethoven is such a giant in the world of classical music.

Comedians Pat McLeod and Eric Trundy are co-creators of No Nonsense Comedy at The Idiot Box in Greensboro with performances every Friday and open mic nights on Tuesdays.
