The United Arts Council of Greater Greensboro

February 16, 2012

Last week the Gate City kicked off a very special 50th anniversary with a salute to Greensboro culture, and an organization that’s played a vital role in sustaining the city’s quality of life and economic development. The United Arts Council of Greater Greensboro hosted its 50th Anniversary Celebration at the Elm Street Center in Downtown Greensboro. Since opening its doors for business in the Chamber of Commerce offices back in 1962, the UAC has distributed millions of dollars to arts organizations and projects in and around the city.

The 50th Anniversary Celebration laid the foundation for the UAC’s new Half-Century Fund, and the Council’s annual fundraising campaign is set to begin on Tuesday night, February 21 at 8:00pm in the Renaissance Room of the beautiful Carolina Theatre in downtown Greensboro. UAC President and CEO Tom Philion dropped by WFDD’s Winston-Salem studio to talk about the Council's legacy and its continued impact on the Triad community.
