Triad Arts with David Ford The Hispanic Arts Initiative presents Punto de Vista-Latino PerspectivesDecember 4, 2012The fast growing Latino population in the U.S., and its impact on the November elections has received a lot of press lately, but what about its many cultural impacts across the country, in Our State, and right here in the Triad?
The Hispanic Arts Initiative in Winston-Salem is doing its part in making Latino arts and culture come alive. This year they’re bringing educational Latino dance and music programs to more than 5,000 area students. They’re also collaborating with some of Our State’s greatest arts institutions in all areas of the arts, including visual art.
Coming up Friday night, December 7, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, HAI presents the exhibit Punto de Vista—Latino Perspectives featuring works by more than a dozen North Carolina Latino artists. The opening reception in the Womble Carlyle Gallery of the Milton Rhodes Center for the Arts is free and open to the public. Hispanic Arts Initiative Executive Director Maria Sanchez-Boudy recently dropped by to talk about the event.
