Triad Arts with David Ford St. Timothy\'s Episcopal Church Historic Organ Benefit ConcertAugust 20, 2012The mighty pipe organ has been around in its current form since the 14th century and in simpler forms since Antiquity. Mozart himself called the organ the King of instruments, and that sentiment is alive and well here in the Triad at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Winston-Salem. The city has a history of fine instruments going back centuries and St. Tim’s, with the help of the community is keeping that tradition alive by saving an historic Hook & Hastings instrument. Soprano Elizabeth Pacheco Rose, her husband bassoonist Saxton Rose & Friends are spearheading the Historic Organ Benefit Concert to raise funds for this remarkable restoration project. The church performance is Friday, September 7th at 7:30pm at St. Timothy’s. On the program, in addition to music for voice, bassoon, piano, violin and oboe, will be award-winning organist and UNCSA and Salem College professor Timothy Olsen. David samples from Tim's NAXOS Laureate Series CD throughout the program. Tim will conclude the fundraising concert on September 7th. Pipe organ builder John Farmer who is in the process of bringing St. Tim’s Hook and Hastings back to life, sat down with TAUC host David Ford.
