Triad Arts with David Ford Little ChicagoSeptember 12, 2006Gastonia, NC is sometimes known as "Little Chicago." Supposedly, during Prohibition, the city was a favorite point for Chicago mobsters to get North Carolina moonshine. In the late 1980s, Gastonia's per capita murder rate was high as the Windy City's. Little Chicago is now the name of a independent film that puts Gastonia in a more positive light.
