Triad Arts with David Ford Eastern Music Festival 2012 Presents Outstanding Guest ArtistsJune 29, 2012The 51st annual Eastern Music Festival began earlier this week and will run through July 28 in Greensboro. With over 100 music-related events during the season and throughout the year, the Eastern Music Festival has something for everyone whether you love classical, jazz, or bluegrass.
EMF is also one of the most sought after locations for talented student musicians. They rehearse and perform intensively and at extremely high levels with their peers in orchestras and chamber music ensembles. And they also study with great masters of their respective instruments from across the country and around the world. Longtime EMF guest artist and world renowned cello soloist Lynn Harrell spoke with David by phone from his studio in Santa Monica, California.
During Triad Arts Weekend at 1 p.m., we take a break from the ordinary and look at life through a new lens, that of poetry and spoken word. It's a Triad Arts Poetry and Spoken Word Slam like you've never heard before with very talented Triad poets, and a few who gave amazing performances in our area before returning to their respective homes in other parts of the country and world. Ed Wilson, Kwame Dawes, Rhet Iseman Trull, Joe Mills, Josephus III, Fred Chapell, Kianga Ford, Rodney Holman and Helen Losse will recite poetry for us, and Peter Kairoff will help us understand the beauty of Brahms. It's Kairoff at the Keyboard and a whole lot of great poetry NEXT on TAUC!
