Dark in the Song

April 18, 2011

Dark in the Song is a contemporary bassoon collective formed in 2010. It's a real dream team bassoon ensemble made up of some of the world's most innovative and accomplished bassoonists: University of North Carolina School of the Arts instructor Saxton Rose, Rachel Elliot, Michael Harley, Lynn Hileman and Peter Kolkay.

Peabody Conservatory composer David Smooke has just written a newly commissioned work for Dark in the Song that will be performed Tuesday evening, April 19. It’s titled “21 miles to Coolsville”, and the composer will be on the UNCSA campus Tuesday afternoon to conduct a composing seminar and talk about the piece.
