Real People, Real Stories Planting New Seeds in Foreign GroundDecember 2, 2012StoryLine gives voice to everyday people throughout our community as they share the experiences that shape their lives. It is a project of the ECHO network and is made possible by the generosity of Salemtowne, a continuing care retirement community, where every life shines and stories are celebrated. Moving to a new place can be frightening and emotionally difficult. But Diana Vasquez admits it can also open the door to new creative opportunities. She and her family are from Quito, the capitol of Ecuador. Her brother is living with Cerebral Palsy. So the family emigrated to Winston-Salem in order to give him a better quality of life. Originally, Diana resisted the move. But now she describes why Winston-Salem is the fertile ground she needed to help her grow as an artist.
