Real People, Real Stories Home Away From HomeDecember 26, 2010StoryLine gives voice to everyday people throughout our community as they share the experiences that shape their lives.
Identical twins Graham & Gilmer Murdock come from a large family. In 1947, their mother gave birth to her twelfth son but soon afterward, she died.
Overwhelmed with the responsibility of raising twelve children, their father placed Graham, Gilmer and two other brothers into The Children’s Home in Winston-Salem.
In this segment of Storyline, Graham and Gilmer reflect on their experience of growing up at The Children’s Home and compare it with what some children experience in modern day foster homes.
StoryLine is a project of the ECHO network and is made possible by the generosity of Salemtowne, a continuing care retirement community, where every life shines and stories are celebrated.
