Faith and Determination

StoryLine is a volunteer-led effort to collect the stories of everyday people in Forsyth County. Stories were collected via the StoryLine bus, a mobile recording studio that travels throughout the community.

This week:

In 1993, Dorothy Johnson was one of the first African Americans to join the Green Street United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem.

She describes to Pastor Kelly Carpenter, the current pastor at Green Street United Methodist, the racial prejudice she endured from fellow church members and finding the strength to stay where she was not wanted.
