Real People, Real Stories Donating PeaceDecember 16, 2012StoryLine gives voice to everyday people throughout our community as they share the experiences that shape their lives. It’s a project of the ECHO network and is made possible by the generosity of Salemtowne, a continuing care retirement community, where every life shines and stories are celebrated.
In the early 90’s, Ben Piggott lost his little brother, Kermit, to street violence. Two years later, Ben established the Peace Toys for War Toys program in his brother’s memory. This program encourages youth to exchange their violent toys for peaceful alternatives. This is the 20th year for the toy exchange. In this segment of StoryLine, Ben shares the story of how he transformed his anger and grief into understanding and compassion.
