Chasing a Good Education

September 30, 2012

StoryLine gives voice to everyday people throughout our community as they share the experiences that shape their lives. It is a project of the ECHO network and is made possible by the generosity of Salemtowne, a continuing care retirement community, where every life shines and stories are celebrated.

Carlton Holland met his wife, Bernice, in Massachusetts during World War II. He had been discharged and she was a USO entertainer. Their desire to be in a progressive education system urged the Hollands to migrate their entire family from Winston-Salem to Boston. But years later they returned to the southern twin city. In this segment of StoryLine, Crystal Holland asks her father why The Hollands launched their own version of the great migration.
