Real People, Real Stories Addiction and recovery strengthen a family relationshipJune 21, 2009StoryLine is a volunteer-led effort to collect the stories of everyday people in Forsyth County. Stories were collected via the StoryLine bus, a mobile recording studio that travels throughout the community. This week, Thom Elmore and his mother Ruby share a difficult time in their lives. Thom grew up with his mother in Washington, D.C. in the 60's and 70's. During that time he became addicted to drugs and Ruby watched her son struggle. She says she believed all the while her son would overcome his addiction. Now 16 years clean and sober, Thom is a substance abuse counselor along with his mother.
