Donna Lambeth is Exchange Director for Friendship Force Central North Carolina. One of her good friends is Larry Womble, North Carolina State Representative for the 71st District. He’s recovering from a head-on collision with neighbor David Allen Carmichael. The accident happened December 2nd. 54-year-old Carmichael died during the accident on Reynolds Park Road. According to police, Carmichael had a blood alcohol level of 0.29, more than three times the legal limit. Representative Womble’s blood alcohol level was zero. But investigators say he crossed the center line and caused the collision. Police say no charges have been filed at this time.
70-year-old Womble is listed in good condition at Baptist Medical Center. A family representative says he’s in physical therapy, recognizes friends and family and is mouthing words. His family thank the community for their tremendous support. And encouage people to continue praying for the Carmichael family.
Before the accident, Representative Womble was very active in the Winston-Salem community and a fervent supporter of many non-profit groups, such as Friendship Force. In this segment of StoryLine, he and Lambeth affirm the organization’s motto; "A world of friends is a world of peace".
